Your bouquet deserves to live like a rockstar
Follow these rules and it will stay dramatic and gorgeous for 7–14 days. Ignore them — and it will dramatically die in 48 hours.
Six golden rules our florists swear by
Cut 3 cm at 45°
Every 2 days. Sharp knife, not scissors. Fresh cut = fresh life.
Cold, clean water
Refresh the water every 48 hours. Warm temperatures reduce flower lifespan.
No direct sun
Bright indirect light only. Sun = flower sauna = instant wilting.
Feed them
Always use the flower food provided. Sugar does more damage than good.
Keep them cool at night
Move to the coolest room or fridge overnight. They’ll thank you.
Away from fruit
Apples & bananas release ethylene gas = flower suicide.
The first 10 minutes decide everything
- Unwrap immediately — don’t let them suffocate
- Fill a clean vase with cold water + flower food
- Cut 3–5 cm off each stem at a sharp 45° angle
- Remove all leaves that would be underwater
- Place in vase and admire your future 2 weeks of glory
What your flowers actually love & hate
- Loves: cold water, trimmed thorns, daily misting
- Hates: warm water, fruit nearby, crowded vase
- Lasts: 10–14 days if you behave
- Loves: lots of space, ice cubes in water, cool nights
- Hates: being touched too much, hot rooms
- Pro tip: they open fully in 2–3 days — patience!
- Loves: growing in water (they’ll stretch 5–10 cm)
- Hates: flower food (skip it), warm water
- They’ll keep dancing for 7–10 days
Secret florist hacks we probably shouldn’t tell you
Fridge overnight = +5 days of life
They think it’s winter vacation.
Mist petals daily
Especially peonies and hydrangeas — they drink through leaves too.
Drop a copper coin
Natural antibacterial. Old trick, still works.
No drafts
Air conditioning or open windows = instant droop.
When the party’s over — make it eternal
Dry them upside down in a dark room for 3 weeks → forever bouquet. Or press your favorite blooms between books. They’ll remind you of this moment forever.
